What an outstanding morning!
I think I feel Autumn's gentle touch! I adore Autumn, the beautiful fall colors, watching all of nature prepare for the coming Winter. We did a bunch of trimming bushes and raking up the remains yesterday. It was in sore need too. I have some purple Mums to plant today on the other side of the doorway. Mums are so hardy and so pretty.
We are busy planning our trip to Orlando, Florida. It'll be my first trip there and I'm very excited. A day trip to the ocean is in the works as well. That's one of the things on my "list". -- walk in the sand on the beach and feel the ocean on my bare toes.
The rabbits will be well cared for with their two wonderful rabbit sitters. EveryBun has had a check up and are in fine shape.
The ducks we have been feeding are adapting quickly. Now, all we have to do is walk out by the tree and begin throwing corn.. the pond empties out and the flock starts our direction.. they still don't come and crowd around my feet... but they are getting bolder. Davis says I shouldn't stand out in the yard and "quack" at them and yell invitations to supper in the direction of t he pond.
We've had a lovely weekend. Silas spent the day with us yesterday and helped with some of the yard work. It was a very nice time.
My Favorite Fall Poem to share..
Something told the wild geese
Something told the wild geese
It was time to go.
Though the fields lay golden
Something whispered, "snow."
Leaves were green and stirring,
Berries, luster-glossed,
But beneath warm feathers
But something cautioned, "frost."
All the sagging orchards
Steamed with amber spices
But each wild breast stiffened
At remembered ice.
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly -
Summer sun was on their wings,
Winter in their cry.
